Mini AYC at Port Alberni

The Mini AYC Conference held in the Port Alberni was filled with amazing testimonies and moments of abundant grace. A total of 18 dedicated volunteers participated in this mission, surpassing the attendance of any other village mission. However, there was initially no prepared venue for worship and fellowship meals, so the initial plan was to engage with the local indigenous youth. Nevertheless, God had a different and complete plan in mind.

Testimony #1

God used this mission to bring about a union of hearts. Through a volunteer attending this mission, we came to know the pastor of Elim Tabernacle, a church in the Port Alberni. Upon hearing about the purpose and situation of AYC, the pastor willingly allowed the use of the church facilities. He opened the worship hall, provided access to all instruments and equipment, and even assigned a manager to assist with equipment usage throughout the entire worship time. With access to the entire church, we were able to share meals and fellowship with the prepared food and provide a warm place for volunteers and indigenous youth to rest.

Elim Tabernacle, a church we had never visited before and knew nothing about our ministry, graciously opened its doors to us. Through this, 18 volunteers from various churches in Vancouver, along with 30 youth from the Port Alberni and Ahousaht first nation, were able to come together in unity to worship. This turned out to be more than just a simple village visit, as originally planned, but rather enabled a Mini AYC gathering targeting a specific region of Port Alberni.

Testimony #2

Missionary Jacob Hwang brought indigenous youth leaders from the Ahousaht First Nation. On the second day, a praise team made of indigenous leaders from the Ahousaht led worship in the morning. It was a special and grace-filled worship where they experienced the privilege of sharing the Gospel with their own people and guiding them to the Lord.

Testimony #3

In the Port Alberni, there are many youths living in foster homes, most of them are from the Ahousaht First Nation. These youth have faced various difficulties in different family situations before being placed in foster homes. Despite the many wounds and hardships they carry, the youths who attended the past AYC conference came to know the love of Jesus and experienced significant transformations. Even now, though facing numerous temptations and challenges, they brought friends from foster homes who share similar pains, all with a heart longing for the love of God. The majority of these youth had not known Jesus before this worship, and through it, we believe that the seed of faith has been planted in them, trusting that the Lord will make it grow.

AYC Day

50 volunteers participated in AYC Day. It was a time to share the accomplishments of the past year through videos highlighting the work that God has done through AYC and its dedicated volunteers. We worshipped to give glory to God and had a time of fellowship with participants.

As we face the new year of 2024, we earnestly hope it will be a year of continuing to go where God leads, proclaiming the Gospel, and raising up many youth leaders. We have planned numerous ministries for this purpose, and we kindly ask for more prayers and interest in the upcoming ministries.

Mini AYC 포트 알버니

포트 알버니 지역에서 개최된 Mini AYC 선교는 놀랄 만한 간증들과 풍성한 은혜의 순간들로 가득 찼습니다. 이번 선교에는 총 18명의 헌신적인 봉사자들이 참여하여, 어떤 다른 마을 선교보다도 많은 인원이 모였습니다. 그러나, 예배와 식탁 교제를 할 예비된 장소가 없어 초기 계획은 마을 방문 및 원주민 청소년들과의 교제로 예상하며 준비했습니다. 그러나, 하나님은 저희의 계획과는 다른 완전한 것을 계획하셨습니다.

간증 #1

하나님은 이번 선교를 통해서 연합의 장이 되게 하셨습니다. 이번 선교를 참석하는 봉사자의 지인을 통해서 포트 알버니 지역 Elim Tabernacle이라는 교회에 담임 목사님을 알게 되었습니다. 그리고 목사님께서 AYC의 상황과 사역의 목적에 대해서 들으시고는 교회 사용을 흔쾌히 허락하셨습니다. 예배 본당을 열어 주시고 모든 악기와 장비를 사용케 하셨습니다. 그리고 장비 사용을 관리해 주시는 담당자도 모든 예배시간 동안 함께해 주시며 장비를 사용하는데 아무 탈 없게끔 도와주셨습니다. 교회 모든 곳을 사용할 수 있게 해주셔서 준비해온 음식으로 식사를 하며 교제를 할 수 있었고 봉사자들과 원주민 청소년들이 따듯한 곳에서 푹 쉴수 있었습니다.

한 번도 방문한 적 없고 우리의 사역에 대해서 알지 못했던 Elim Tabernacle 교회의 문을 열어주셨습니다. 이를 통해서 밴쿠버 다양한 교회에서 모여온 18명의 봉사자들과, 포트 알버니 지역 그리고 어하우젯 지역 30명의 청소년들이 함께 연합하여 예배할 수 있게 되었습니다. 이는 초기 계획과는 완전히 달리 단순 마을 방문이 아닌 한 지역을 대상으로 하는 Mini AYC 집회가 가능하도록 하셨습니다.

간증 #2

황상필 선교사님이 어하우젯 원주민 마을에서부터 원주민 청소년 리더들을 데리고 왔습니다. 그리고 어하우젯 지역 원주민 리더들로 구성된 찬양팀이 둘째 날 오전 예배에 찬양 인도를 했습니다. 같은 민족에게 복음을 전하고 그들을 주님께로 인도하는 일들을 경험하는 특별한 은혜가 넘치는 예배였습니다.

간증 #3

포트 알버니 지역에는 위탁 가정에 살고 있는 아이들이 많습니다. 대부분 청소년들은 어하우젯 원주민 마을 출신으로 다양한 가정의 어려운 상황에 있다가 위탁 가정으로 보내진 아이들입니다. 많은 상처와 아픔을 가지고 살아가는 청소년들이지만 지난 AYC 집회를 참석해서 예수님의 사랑을 알게 되고 많은 변화를 경험한 아이들이었습니다. 지금도 비록 많은 유혹과 어려움들이 있지만 주님을 사모하는 마음으로 자신과 함께 비슷한 아픔이 있는 위탁가정에 머물고 있는 친구들을 데리고 왔습니다. 대다수의 청소년들은 예수님을 알지 못했습니다. 이번 예배를 통해서 믿음의 씨앗이 그들에게 심어졌으니 주님이 자라게 하실 줄 믿습니다.

AYC Day

50명의 봉사자들이 AYC Day 참석했습니다. 한 해 동안 주님이 AYC와 섬기는 봉사자들을 통해서 이루신 일들을 영상을 통해서 함께 나누며, 예배를 통해서 주님께 영광 돌리고, 참가 자들과 함께 교제하는 시간을 가졌습니다.

지난 2023년도 한 해 기도와 관심으로 사역을 서포트해 주심을 감사드립니다. 이제 마주한 2024년도에도 지속적으로 주님이 보내주시는 곳에 나아가 복음을 전하고 많은 청소년 리더들을 세우는 한 해가 되기를 간절히 바라며 이를 위해서 많은 사역을 계획하고 있습니다. 앞으로 예정된 사역에 더 많은 기도와 관심을 부탁드립니다.
