Mini AYC in Saskatchewan

From January 11th to 14th, we kicked off the new year with a Mini AYC gathering targeting the Saskatoon region. Starting last January, this marked the third Mini AYC event held in the Saskatoon area. Weekly, 18 volunteers gathered for prayer and preparation. Among them, two indigenous youth, Elizabeth and Kristin, joined in the efforts. to deepen their understanding of the Lord over the course of 3 nights and 4 days.

At this gathering, 110 indigenous youth, 18 volunteers, and 10 indigenous elders (First Nation elders) participated. Many indigenous youth experienced great grace and had time

Through the Mini AYC Conference, five youths who had participated in a Vision Trip last summer were reunited. The experiences the youths had during the Vision Trip confessed to missing the daily worship and the love from the church members of Shingil Church in Korea, who had invited AYC youths to their church. Though their time in Korea was short, lasting only two weeks, they confessed it was a time when they received unforgettable grace and love. We ask for prayers and continued interest so they continue receiving the love they experienced in Korea.

Among numerous testimonies, at the Mini AYC gathering in October 2023, leaders from the Kahkewistahaw First Nation, along with their families, took the initiative to bring 35 youth from their nation. Among them, 20 attended their first AYC conference and heard the Gospel. However, on the last day of the event, when whoever accepted Jesus as their saviour came forward, 10 out of the 20 attendees stepped up to share about the amazing love and grace of Jesus they accepted. The other 10 youth expressed a desire to go back and share with their friends, reminiscent of the miracle of the Samaritan woman who, after meeting Jesus, went on to share about Jesus with her entire village. Through the Mini AYC Conference, similar miracles occurred. All glory and honour to the Lord who gives life.

This conference saw youth who were more eager to seek and worship the Lord than ever before. The reason for this longing for grace originates from the continuation of weekly meetings in their faith journey after last October's Mini AYC. Particularly, many youths from the Kahkewistasaw First Nation, now believers in Jesus, longed for worship but lacked Christian leadership to guide them. Thus, they reached out to Pastor Jamie, an Indigenous minister from AYC who is over two hours away, requesting a youth group. As a result, leaders from various First Nations in the Saskachewan area gathered their youth every Thursday and travelled to the central location of Yorkton (an hour's drive) for the meetings. This routine continued until they attended this Mini AYC gathering. Presently, 40-60 youth gather weekly for worship. One of our AYC team's desires was for the youth who encountered Jesus personally at the event to continue to know the Lord. It's by God's grace that such things are made possible in the Saskachewan area. We ask for prayers that the youth's hunger to know the Lord continues to overflow and that the leadership, with the heart of a good shepherd, tirelessly guides the youth.

Mini AYC 사스카츄완

지난 1월 11일- 14일, 사스카츄완 지역을 대상으로 하는 Mini AYC 집회로 2024년 새해를 시작했습니다. 작년 1월 처음 시작해서 어느덧 3번째 사스카츄완 지역에서 열리게 된 Mini AYC 집회를 위해서 매주 18명의 봉사자들이 모여 기도로 준비되었습니다. 18명의 봉사자들 중에는 2명의 원주민 청소년들(엘리자베스, 크리스틴)이 함께 했습니다.

이번 집회에는 110명의 원주민 청소년들과 18명의 봉사자 그리고 10명의 원주민 엘더(마을 장로)가 참석했습니다. 많은 원주민 청소년 아이들이 3박 4일 동안 큰 은혜를 받고 주님을 더 알아가는 시간이 되었습니다.

Mini AYC 집회를 통해서 지난여름 비전트립을 다녀왔던 5명의 원주민 청소년들을 만났습니다. 비전트립을 통해서 수많은 경험 중에서도 매일 같이 예배했던 것과 한국에서 AYC를 초대 해주신 신길교회 성도님들의 사랑이 그립다고 고백합니다. 비록 그들의 삶 속에 2주라는 짧은 기간이 었지만 삶속에 잊히지 않는 은혜와 사랑을 공급받는 시간이었음을 확인 할 수 있었습니다.이들의 삶 속에 예배가 끊어지지 않고 한국에서 받은 사랑을 지속적으로 공급받을수 있도록 많은 기도와 관심을 부탁드립니다.

수많은 간증 중에서도 지난 2023년 10월 Mini AYC 집회에서 세례를 받았던 Kahkewistahaw First Nation에 리더와 그녀의 가족들이 중심이 되어서 자신들의 마을에서 35명의 청소년들을 데리고 왔습니다. 그중에 20명은 처음 AYC 집회를 참석하며 복음을 들었음에도 불구하고 집회 마지막 날 예수님을 구주로 영접한 사람들을 앞으로 부르고 간증하는 기회가 주어졌을 때, 참석한 20명 중에 10명이 앞에 나와 예수님의 놀라운 사랑과 은혜를 간증했습니다. 다른 10명의 청소년들도 돌아가 친구들을 전도하고 싶다며, 마치 사마리아 여인이 예수님을 만난뒤 온 마을을 전도하는 기적과 같은 일들이 Mini AYC 집회를 통해서 일어났습니다. 생명을 얻게 해주신 주님께 모든 영광을 올려 돌립니다.

이번 집회는 그 어느 때보다도 주님을 사모하며 경배하는 청소년들이 참석했습니다. 이렇게 은혜를 갈망하게 된 이유로는 지난 10월 MIni AYC가 끝나고 계속해서 매주 모임을 가지며 신앙생활을 이어 갔기 때문입니다. 특별히 Kahkewistasaw First Nation에 이제는 예수님을 믿게된 많은 청소년들은 예배를 사모했지만, 예배를 참석하고 그들을 인도할 크리스천 리더십이 없었기 때문에 차로 2시간 이상 거리에 있는 제이미 (AYC 원주민 목사님) 목사님에게 유스 모임을 요청하게 되었습니다. 그리하여서, 매주 목요일 사스카추완 지역 여러 마을에서 리더십들이 유스 아이들을 데리고 중간지점인 (한 시간 거리) 요크톤 (Yorkton) 지역으로 모이게 되었습니다. 그래서 이번 Mini AYC 집회에 참석하게 될 때까지 유스 모임을 매주 목요일 가지고 있었습니다. 현재 매주 40-60명의 청소년들이 예배를 하고 있습니다. 저희 AYC 팀의 한 가지 바람은 집회에서 예수님을 인격적으로 만나게 된 아이들이 지속적으로 주님을 알 수 있게 되는 것이었습니다. 그리고 주님이 사스카츄완 지역에 이러한 일들이 가능케 하셨습니다. 청소년들이 주님을 아는 갈망이 넘치도록, 그리고 리더십들이 지치지 않고 선한 목자 되시는 주님의 마음으로 청소년들을 지속적으로 인도할 수 있도록 기도 부탁드립니다.
