Keeping the Flame of the Gospel Burning – Testimonies and Prayer from Lillooet & Gitsegukla
From April 9 to 13, the AYC mission team visited the Indigenous communities of Lillooet and Gitsegukla in the interior region of British Columbia.
Lillooet Ministry
This was the team’s third visit to Lillooet. Led by Pastor Gary, who ministers in the community, we held a BBQ outreach in the town’s central park and shared the gospel. Many local Christians who had participated in previous visits returned to join us in prayer, outreach, and fellowship. Together, we fervently prayed for a spiritual revival among the Indigenous people and especially among the youth of Lillooet.
Pastor Gary shared a powerful testimony that since our last visit, his church has experienced ongoing growth and revival. It was clear that God is continually at work in this community.
Gitsegukla Ministry
After more than 10 hours of travel, we arrived in Gitsegukla—a community that had received yearly mission trips from Korean churches prior to the pandemic. The community welcomed us warmly, with no hesitation toward outside visitors. Pastor Clyde graciously opened the church building for our team to stay in, and with the faithful support of Brother Cole, who served as our local guide, we were able to worship and connect with around 25 to 30 youth.
From the very first night of worship, we could sense the deep spiritual hunger among the youth. They eagerly invited their friends and family to join the following gatherings. Although not all youth could attend due to funerals and other events in and around the village, it was a powerful time where we witnessed the next generation of Gitsegukla opening their hearts to the Lord.
Volunteer Testimony
“When we first arrived in Gitsegukla, I was physically exhausted from a cold and felt heavy spiritual oppression. Technical difficulties during worship setup only added to my discouragement, and I found myself wanting to quit ministry altogether. But in prayer, I realized this was likely spiritual warfare and chose to rely on God.
The next morning, by God’s grace, I woke up renewed. I was able to spend meaningful time with a girl named Tomaya and her cousins—playing soccer, drawing their portraits, and building deep connections. The youth began opening up, even drawing portraits of one another, and stayed through the entire worship service. We ended the night in prayer together. Though short, this time in Gitsegukla was filled with God’s healing and presence. I left with a renewed hope that God’s kingdom would come in this land.”

Even on the way home, the youth expressed how much they were looking forward to our next visit.
Please pray that this ministry will not be a one-time event, but the beginning of ongoing relationships and visits. Pray that the gospel of God’s kingdom will take deep root and that a new wave of revival will pour out over the next generation in these communities.

복음의 불씨가 이어지도록 – Lillooet & Gitsegukla 간증과 기도
AYC 사역팀은 지난 4월 9일부터 13일까지 BC 내륙 지역에 위치한 릴루엣(Lillooet)과 기츠구클라(Gitsegukla) 원주민 마을을 방문했습니다.
Lillooet 사역
이번은 Lillooet 마을에 대한 세 번째 방문이었습니다. 현지에서 목회하고 계신 Gary 목사님의 인도로 마을 중심지 공원에서 바비큐를 나누고 복음을 전하는 시간을 가졌습니다. 이전에 만났던 기독교인 주민들이 다시 함께해 마을과 청소년들을 위한 기도와 교제를 나누었고, 원주민 가운데 복음이 다시 흘러가고 부흥이 일어나길 소망하며 뜨겁게 기도하는 시간이 이어졌습니다.
Gary 목사님은 AYC 팀의 이전 방문 이후 교회에 변화와 부흥이 일어났다는 간증을 전해주셨고, 이를 통해 하나님께서 이 지역 가운데 계속 일하고 계심을 느낄 수 있었습니다.
Gitsegukla 사역
10시간 이상의 긴 여정을 거쳐 도착한 Gitsegukla는 팬데믹 직전까지 매년 한국 교회가 선교를 다녔던 지역으로, 외부인에 대한 거부감 없이 따뜻하게 맞이해 주셨습니다. Clyde 목사님은 교회 공간을 팀이 생활할 수 있도록 열어주셨고, 처음부터 끝까지 헌신적으로 섬겨준 Cole 형제의 섬김을 통해 약 25~30명의 청소년들과 함께 예배하고 교제하는 은혜로운 시간을 보낼 수 있었습니다.
첫 예배부터 청소년들의 영적인 갈망이 강하게 느껴졌고, 이후 그들은 친구와 가족들을 스스로 초대하며 집회를 확장시켜 나갔습니다. 비록 마을 안팎의 장례식 등으로 인해 모든 청소년이 함께하지는 못했지만, Gitsegukla의 다음 세대가 주님을 향해 마음을 열고 있다는 확신을 갖게 된 시간이었습니다.
봉사자 간증
“Gitsegukla에 도착했을 때 감기와 영적인 무거움으로 지쳐 있었고, 예배 준비에도 어려움이 많아 사역을 포기하고 싶을 만큼 힘들었습니다. 그러나 기도 중 이것이 영적 공격임을 깨닫고 하나님께 의지했습니다. 다음 날 하나님의 은혜로 회복되었고, Tomaya라는 아이와 사촌들과 함께 축구를 하고, 초상화를 그려주며 자연스럽게 깊은 교제가 이뤄졌습니다. 아이들도 서로를 그려주며 마음을 열었고, 끝까지 예배에 남은 유스들과 함께 기도할 수 있는 은혜의 시간이 되었습니다. 짧지만 하나님이 주신 회복과 역사하심을 깊이 경험하며, 이 땅에 하나님의 나라가 이루어지길 소망하게 되었습니다.”
함께 기도해주세요
집회를 마친 후 돌아오는 길에서도 청소년들은 “다시 만날 날을 손꼽아 기다리고 있다”는 마음을 전해주었습니다. 이 만남이 한 번의 이벤트로 끝나지 않고, 지속적인 관계와 방문을 통해 하나님 나라의 복음이 깊이 뿌리내릴 수 있도록, 그리고 이 땅의 다음 세대에게 새로운 부흥의 결이 흘러넘치도록 계속해서 기도해 주시길 부탁드립니다.
