AYC Spring Youth Gathering: A Time of Unity and Transformation
From Thursday, March 27 to Sunday, March 30, over 270 people gathered at Nanoose Bay Camp on Vancouver Island for the AYC Spring Youth Gathering. Among them were 60 volunteers from Vancouver and 210 Indigenous youth from communities including Saskatchewan, Ahousaht, Port Alberni, Port Hardy, and Pemberton.
A Month of Prayer and Preparation
In the month leading up to the gathering, the volunteer team met weekly to pray, share the Word, and seek the heart of Jesus for the Indigenous youth. As small group leaders, they prepared to serve with a shepherd’s heart. One of the team’s most important prayer topics was for God to bring youth who are living in darkness without hope—to encounter His love and light.
Youth Encounter Worship for the First Time
God answered that prayer powerfully. This year, more than ever, we saw youth experiencing worship for the very first time. From Saskatchewan alone, over 60 out of 120 youth were completely new to church or worship. Pemberton sent their first-ever group—three youth and one Indigenous leader. Though there were concerns about how these youth would respond, God led every moment. Throughout the gathering, participants experienced powerful unity and deep healing.
One youth, Drew Paul, shared:
“AYC was a big thing. I never knew I had those types of emotions. When they prayed, they knew exactly what I needed to hear—it was a good healing. It helped me out of my dark place and brought me to a way better place than before. Time to get back on top now ❤️🩹❤️”
Baptism: A Step Into New Life
On the third day of the camp, during lunch break, we held a baptism service. Despite the cold weather, 10 youth made a bold decision to be baptized. Each one came from a different background and pain, yet chose to follow Jesus as their hope and healer. As we witnessed their honest confessions and tears, we saw the greatest miracle of all—souls moving from death to eternal life.
Tneil Wamiss, one of the youth, posted:
“Starting to feel lost… addiction has taken over my mind and body. But I’m praying I find myself again. The most important thing I’ve learned is—God is love. Without God, you have no love. God, I pray You’ll help me become whole again—break addiction, lust, and hatred. 🙏 3rd day of AYC ❤️”
Moving Forward
The AYC Spring Gathering ended in God’s grace, but the journey does not stop here. From April 9–14, the AYC team will travel to the Gitsegukla Indigenous community for the next mission trip.
After 12 years of serving mainly on Vancouver Island, the AYC team is now beginning to reach into the interior of British Columbia. We ask for your continued prayers and support as we follow where God leads.

AYC 봄 청소년 집회: 하나됨과 변화의 시간
2025년 3월 27일(목)부터 30일(주일)까지, 밴쿠버섬 Nanoose Bay Camp에서 AYC 봄 청소년 집회가 열렸습니다. 이번 집회에는 밴쿠버에서 온 60명의 봉사자들과 Saskatchewan, Ahousaht, Port Alberni, Port Hardy, Pemberton 등 다양한 지역에서 모인 210명의 원주민 청소년들, 총 270명이 함께했습니다.
한 달 동안의 기도와 준비
이번 집회를 위해 봉사자들은 한 달 전부터 매주 모여 기도하며 말씀을 나누고, 원주민 청소년들을 향한 예수님의 마음을 배웠습니다. 특히 소그룹 인도자로서 ‘목자의 마음’을 품고 청소년들을 진심으로 섬기기 위한 준비를 했습니다.
팀의 가장 간절한 기도 제목 중 하나는, 지금 이 순간에도 어둠 가운데 소망 없이 살아가는 청소년들을 주님께서 이곳으로 보내주시길 바라는 것이었습니다.
예배를 처음 경험한 청소년들
주님은 우리의 기도에 응답하셨습니다. 이번 AYC 집회에는 예배와 기도를 처음 경험하는 청소년들이 그 어느 때보다 많이 참석했습니다.
Saskatchewan에서는 전체 120명의 참가자 중 60명이 예배를 처음 접한 청소년들이었으며, Pemberton 지역에서는 처음으로 3명의 청소년과 1명의 원주민 인도자가 함께 참여했습니다.
이 외에도 다양한 지역에서 첫 참석자들이 많아, 봉사자들은 청소년들이 잘 적응할 수 있을지 걱정했지만, 하나님께서는 모든 순간을 주관하셨고, 그들은 오히려 자연스럽게 공동체 안으로 들어와 하나됨의 기쁨과 은혜를 깊이 경험했습니다.
청소년 간증
청소년 Drew Paul은 SNS를 통해 다음과 같은 고백을 나누었습니다:
“AYC는 제게 정말 큰 의미였어요. 그런 감정을 느껴본 적도 없었는데, 기도받을 때 사람들이 제가 들어야 할 말을 정확히 해줘서 놀랐어요. 어두운 곳에서 빠져나와 회복되었고, 이제는 다시 일어서야 할 시간이에요.”
또 다른 청소년 Tneil Wamiss는 다음과 같이 적었습니다:
“요즘 불안과 외로움에 길을 잃은 기분이에요. AYC에서 함께했던 사람들이 그립고, 주님을 향해 불타던 제 마음이 그리워요. 하지만 기도하고 있어요. 하나님께서 제 안의 중독과 증오, 정욕을 끊어주시고 온전히 회복되게 해달라고… AYC 3일째 되는 날, 주님을 다시 붙잡습니다.”
세례식: 거듭남의 은혜
집회 셋째 날 점심, 우리는 야외에서 세례식을 가졌습니다. 아직 물에 들어가기엔 쌀쌀한 날씨였지만, 10명의 청소년들이 자발적으로 세례를 받기로 결단했습니다.
각기 다른 상처와 가정 배경, 삶의 어두운 터널을 지나온 이들은 예수님을 소망과 치유자로 고백하며, 새로운 삶을 시작하겠다고 다짐했습니다.
그들의 눈물과 고백은, 한 영혼이 죽음에서 생명으로 옮겨지는 하나님의 기적을 목격하는 시간이었습니다.
AYC의 다음 여정
이번 AYC 봄 집회는 하나님의 은혜 가운데 잘 마무리되었지만, 우리의 사역은 계속됩니다.
4월 9일부터 14일까지, AYC 팀은 Gitsegukla 원주민 공동체로 향해 다음 미션 트립을 진행할 예정입니다.
지난 12년 동안 AYC는 밴쿠버섬을 중심으로 사역해왔지만, 이제는 그 경계를 넘어 BC 내륙 지역으로도 복음과 사랑을 전하기 위해 나아가고자 합니다. 이 사역 가운데 하나님의 인도하심과 공급하심을 위해 계속적인 중보와 후원을 부탁드립니다.
